Independent game mod development
From an idea to a working colony system
Tool Progression - Stone to Electric is a Westgate WEBS development project for RimWorld. It explores a progression from primitive tools to metal and electric equipment, alongside systems for moving supplies around a colony.
The project combines gameplay programming, item definitions, custom artwork and repeated troubleshooting. Each revision connects a creative idea with the practical details that make it work in the game.
Tools with a purpose
Stone, metal and advanced equipment form the project’s progression. Tool use and how pawns hold equipment are part of the continuing development work.
Carts & colony transport
Hand carts, wheelbarrows, animal carts and covered merchant wagons extend the transport concept. Movement, loads and pawn interactions are being refined through testing.
Artwork shaped for the project
Tools and transport need a consistent visual identity. Custom art helps turn the underlying systems into objects a player can recognize.
Testing & refinement
Development includes investigating errors, adjusting behavior and checking how changes appear in RimWorld. Beta status means that testing and corrections are still part of the work.
What this project demonstrates
A game mod brings together the same skills that help a custom website feature or business tool succeed: defining the goal, connecting systems, creating useful assets and refining the result when testing exposes a problem.
Have an idea for a website feature, a small utility or a creative programming project? We can discuss its scope and the next practical step.
Tool Progression is an independent mod project. RimWorld belongs to its respective owners.
